Palestinians do not have the right to justice, as they are not seen by Washington as a sovereign state.
This statement was made by the head of the US State Department Michael Pompeo.
As News Front previously reported, 2 years ago, Palestine appealed to the International Criminal Court with a request to investigate war crimes on its territory that fall under the jurisdiction of the ICC, starting on June 13, 2014.
At the end of 2019, the court stated that they had previously studied the situation, and it met the criteria of the Rome Statute to launch a full-fledged investigation into Israel.
“As we made clear when the Palestinians attempted to accede to the Rome Statute, we do not see them as a sovereign state, and they therefore do not have the right to full membership or participation as a state in international organizations”, – said Michael Pompeo.
The Secretary of State accused the International Criminal Court of trying to “go beyond its jurisdiction,” and intentions to support the Palestinians as a “political tool”. He emphasized that he considered such actions “illegal”.
“If the International Criminal Court continues to work in this direction, we will show what the consequences will be”, – Pompeo stated.
