More than 70 refugees came back to Syria in 24 hours

Over 70 people came back from Lebanon to Syria in a day, no refugees were withdrawn from Jordan, it follows from the newsletter of the refugee reception, distribution and accommodation center, published on the website of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“Over the past day, 72 refugees (22 women, 22 children, 37) came back from the Jordan-Yabus and Tell Kahlah checkpoints to the Syrian Arab Republic and from Lebanese territory. No refugees were withdrawn from Jordan through the Nasib checkpoint carried out”, – the bulletin says. It is noted that refugees were not withdrawn to places of permanent residence within the country during the day.

It is added that the engineering units of the Syrian Armed Forces have completed the tasks of clearing the terrain and facilities in the settlements of the Duma (Damascus province), Jasim and El Harra (the province of Deraa). 2.4 hectares of land were cleared per day, 26 explosive objects were discovered and destroyed.

The armed conflict in Syria has been ongoing since 2011. At the end of 2017, a victory was announced over the IS terrorist group (Islamic State, banned in the Russian Federation) in Syria and Iraq. In some areas of the country, stripping from militants continues. At the moment, a political settlement, the restoration of Syria, and the return of refugees are in the forefront.
