France opposed the United States, which “bought” the privileges for COVID-19 vaccine

The French Government considered unacceptable the privileged access of the United States to the coronavirus vaccine developed by the pharmaceutical giant Sanofi.

Such a statement was made on Thursday, 14 May, by Agnès Pannier-Runasher, Secretary to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

“It would be unacceptable for us if this or that country had privileged access, under the pretext that is a financial pretext”, –  the official said.

As reported by News Front, the day before CEO of the French company “Sanofi” Paul Hudson said that the U.S. will have the exclusive right to priority access to a vaccine against coronavirus. He explained this by the fact that earlier this year Washington allocated money to the company, which allowed to conduct research. Moreover, the U.S. gave $226 million to expand production capacity for pandemic influenza vaccines back in December.
