On Saturday, May 9, the Reuters news agency reported, citing information from a member of the local parliament.

Protesters claim that people with political connections enjoy privileges in the distribution of food. According to MP Gulzaman Naib, the protesters began throwing stones and even used firearms, trying to get into the residence of the governor of the province. In response, the police opened fire.

According to reports, seven protesters died in the incident, fourteen were injured.
