Palestine asked Russia for ventilators and coronavirus tests

Palestine asked Russia for 100 ventilators, protective suits for doctors and 20 thousand tests for coronavirus, the issue of logistics for the delivery of humanitarian supplies is being addressed, Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdelhafiz Nofal told the reporters.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that more than a dozen countries in the Middle East and North Africa turned to Russia with a request to help in the fight against COVID-19. Requests came from Algeria, Egypt, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Yemen, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Tunisia.

“The Palestinian Prime Minister sent a letter to the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin with a request to help in the fight against coronavirus. We asked for three things – 20 thousand tests, 100 mechanical ventilation devices, and 5 thousand protective suits”, – the ambassador said.

The Palestinian diplomat noted that “according to our information, the request is being worked out”.

“You understand, help should be delivered by plane either through Israel or through Jordan. Now this issue is being worked out. We are waiting for information on how and when the cargo can be sent”, – the ambassador said.

Nofal also said that under the auspices of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society (IPPO), humanitarian aid with medicines for intensive care units is being prepared to be dispatched.
