Trump forced the Saudis to cut oil production, threatening the crown prince

The US President Donald Trump blackmailed Riyadh with U.S. military support.

This is reported on Thursday, April 30, by Reuters, citing sources familiar with the situation.

According to media reports, during a telephone conversation on April 2, Donald Trump threatened Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Ibn Salman with the withdrawal of the American armed forces from the country if Riyadh did not agree to a deal to reduce oil production.

According to sources, this argument was key in the campaign to pressure Trump. One of the interlocutors noted that the prince was so overwhelmed by the threat that he ordered his assistants to leave the office so that he could continue the discussion privately.

Riyadh made it clear that without the OPEC + deal, “there will be no way to stop the US Congress from introducing restrictions that could lead to the withdrawal of US troops,” an unnamed American official told the agency.

Journalists asked Trump to comment on the information during the briefing, but the president declined to answer. In Riyadh, the request was ignored.
