Russia supports calls for a humanitarian truce in Libya with the onset of the holy month of Muslims Ramadan, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Earlier, the Libyan National Army (LNA) announced that it was suspending hostilities for the month of Ramadan.
“Support was expressed in Libya for calls for a humanitarian ceasefire in connection with the onset of the holy month of Muslims Ramadan”, – the Foreign Ministry said in a telephone conversation with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan government, based in the east of the country, Abdelhadi Al-Khuweij.
Moscow also reaffirmed its principled position in favor of resolving topical issues on the Libyan agenda by the Libyans themselves through inclusive dialogue with UN assistance and in accordance with the decisions of the Berlin Summit on Libya.
