Iran will destroy US warships if Tehran’s security is threatened in the Persian Gulf.
This was announced on Thursday to state television by the head of Iran’s elite revolutionary guard, Hossein Salami, the day after US President Donald Trump warned Tehran of “pursuing” US ships.
“I ordered our naval forces to destroy any American terrorist forces in the Persian Gulf that threaten the security of Iranian military or non-military ships”, – Salami told state television.
“Gulf security is part of Iran’s strategic priorities”.
On Wednesday, Trump said he instructed the U.S. Navy to fire on any Iranian vessels that pursue him at sea, but later said he did not change the rules of warfare.
