Military assistance from Turkey only added vulnerabilities to factions on the side of the so-called Government of National Accord of Libya.
Such a statement was made by the official representative of the Libyan National Army, Ahmed al-Mismari.
According to him, now the militants are completely dependent on the unmanned aerial vehicles provided by Turkey, which the LNA forces regularly bring down.
At the same time, al-Mismari emphasized that the Libyan National Army, led by Marshal Khalifa Haftar, intends to oust the Turkish forces that invaded the country at the request of Tripoli. Against this background, LNA aircraft attacked warehouses with weapons in the area of the city of Abugrain, which is located south of Misurata.
According to Asharq Al-Awsat, several Turkish officers became victims of this operation. This was told to reporters by a military source, without specifying the number of victims.
Ahmed al-Mismari emphasizes that the Libyan National Army is already “on the outskirts of Tripoli’s heart”. Now in the vicinity of the city fights do not subside. Last Friday, Haftar’s troops managed to destroy 25 units of enemy military equipment. In retaliation, GNA fighters shot down a cargo plane delivering medicine to a field hospital created by the LNA in Tarkhuna to combat the outbreak of coronavirus infection COVID-19.
As News Front previously reported, Marshal Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army resumed its offensive on Tripoli late last year. The government of national consensus in response requested support from Ankara, after which loyal Turkish jihadists who fought in Syria came to the aid of local militants.
The Libyan crisis began in 2011. Then, during the armed coup, Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown, which entailed the creation of dual power in the country. So, in Tripoli, with the support of the West, the so-called Government of National Accord was formed, which refused to recognize the Libyan parliament in the city of Tobruk, who nominated General Haftar for the post of commander.
