The escalation of hostilities in Iraq indicates Washington’s “bad habit” that will not lead the United States to victory, Federation Council member Alexei Pushkov said on Twitter.
The politician noted that the situation is now visible as a deliberate defeat of American troops.
“The United States cannot get rid of bad habits: even in the midst of an epidemic, they plan to escalate the fighting in Iraq, hoping to destroy the “pro-Iranian groups there. It won’t end for the United States. It already looks like a previously lost battle in someone else’s territory”, – he.
Earlier, the New York Times reported on Pentagon plans to expand hostilities in Iraq. According to the publication, last week a secret directive of the US Department of Defense appeared on the preparation of a campaign to destroy the militias, which Iran allegedly supports.
