In the Libyan capital of Tripoli, as a result of powerful artillery shelling, the forces of the rebel general Khalifa Haftar killed at least five civilians.

The outbreak of violence on Monday occurred despite increased international pressure to end hostilities, due to growing concern over the spread of the new coronavirus in a war-ravaged country, in the midst of an ongoing pandemic.

In the southern suburbs of Tripoli, a 42-year-old woman and her nephew died, said Amin al-Hashemi, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health of the Government of National Accord (GNA).
