Macron declares “state of war”, suspends the implementation of pension reform

European leaders are trying to prepare their citizens for the upcoming unprecedented hardships, as comprehensive restrictions on national life have come into force to control the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

In a series of public appearances, leaders from Finland to Germany sought to convince the population of the need to limit their daily lives, from closing schools and jobs to closing unnecessary shops and services. Italy, which has been working under similar restrictions for more than a week, has shown the reason for such measures, announcing that the number of Covid-19 cases has reached nearly 28,000.

“We are at war. Hotels and taxis will be requisitioned for health workers, all proposed reforms, including the controversial pension reform, must be stopped”, – President Emanuel Macron said in an address to the French people on Monday night, speaking for national unity in the face of common victims.
