It was reported that three soldiers were killed, another 12 people were injured. The media reported that among the dead one American and two British. According to the coalition, a total of 18 rockets were fired at the base.

The radio political Sputnik military political scientist, head of the Department of Political Science and Sociology Plekhanova Andrei Koshkin expressed the view that the US presence in the region only destabilizes the situation.

“The United States continues to actively pursue its military policy in Iraq against Shiite militias through military pressure. We recently witnessed how the United States physically eliminated General Kassem Suleimani, the third person in Iran, on Iraqi territory. Today we see the US desire to aggravate relations with Iran again and destroy Shiite militias. This will naturally cause discontent on the part of Iran. Such strikes do not help stabilize relations in the Middle East in general. The Iraqi government has said about the need to withdraw US troops from Iraq, because such actions can not be accepted by Iran, and this is reflected in Iraq – and as a result leads to the aggravation”, – said Andrey Koshkin.
