US President Donald Trump said he intends to personally sign an agreement with the radical Taliban movement*, which, he said, will lead to peace in Afghanistan.

According to Trump, the Taliban are “tired of fighting”, and the Afghan “people want a deal”, which will lead to peace in their country.
On February 21, the US State Department announced progress in negotiations with the Taliban and preparations for signing the document on February 29.
According to the Pentagon, the Taliban discussed an agreement to reduce the level of violence in Afghanistan.
Zamir Kabulov, director of the second Asian department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, noted that this would be an important event for the peace process in the country.
