Russia intends to end war in Syria – US demands “to return the situation back”

The State Department said that Washington is not interested in ending the Syrian conflict.

The US administration sees what is happening in Syria as an attempt by Russia to put an end to rampant terrorism by force, and Washington does not like it.

Such a statement was made by an American official during a briefing, a statement circulated by the US State Department press service.

“Our military, political and diplomatic efforts are not aimed at winning the war. We are working to bring the situation back to the negotiation process with the participation of Russia. So did Pompeo in May in Sochi with Putin. We need a compromise”, – the statesman said.

At the same time, he lamented that Washington was not satisfied with Russia’s actions, despite the fact that Moscow repeatedly focused on a political settlement of the Syrian conflict.

“Now Russia is set for a power scenario”, – the official says, noting that he means “not only the situation in Idlib”.

It is worth noting that this call is not one of a kind. As reported by News Front, previously, the United States Special Representative for Syria, James Jeffrey, made similar calls. He blamed the successes of the Syrian government forces on Russia and demanded that she “change her policy” in the Arab Republic.

The situation in Idlib

The Syrian Arab army has recently launched a large-scale offensive in the Idlib de-escalation zone. According to the latest information, for the first time since 2012, government troops were able to establish full control over the strategically important M-5 highway, which connects Damascus with Aleppo. This victory provides the Syrian army with a significant advantage in the further defeat of terrorist groups.

The Idlib de-escalation zone remains the last major stronghold of terrorist groups in Syria. Khayyat Tahrir al-Sham* is the largest of them. The situation in Idlib is explained by the fact that it was here in 2017 that the militants of their Eastern Guta and the southern regions of the Arab Republic began to be taken out.
