Base with the US military rocket attacked in Iraq

A base near the city of Kirkuk was rocket fired, al-Mayadeen reported.

According to the channel, a rocket fell on the territory of a military facility on which the American troops are stationed.

Al-Mayadeen also noted that in the sky above Kirkuk, fighters who patrol the area are visible.
Subsequently, the Iraqi military reported the discovery of the installation, from which they fired at the air base.

It is noted that 11 non-launched missiles were also found. The military is also looking for those who controlled the installation.

Over the past few months, the US military bases have repeatedly come under rocket and mortar attacks.

The aggravation of the situation occurred at the end of last year, when Washington attacked the objects of the Shiite “Kataib Hezbollah” in Syria and Iraq. The Pentagon noted that this was a response to the group’s attack on the base in Iraq near the city of Kirkuk. After that, supporters of the movement began to storm the US embassy in Baghdad.

Then, on January 3, American troops launched a missile strike at the Baghdad International Airport. As a result of the operation, Iranian general Kassem Suleimani and the deputy head of the Iraqi Shiite militia Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, as well as four officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, were killed. According to the Pentagon, the strike was sanctioned by the US President Donald Trump. The United States considers the deceased general to be involved in attacks on coalition bases and the US embassy in Baghdad.

After that, Tehran fired rockets at an American military base in Iraq. According to Trump, no one was injured in the blow. At the same time, Iran said that the United States withheld information about the victims.
