A draft document prepared by the UK supports the decisions of the Berlin conference on the settlement of the situation in Libya.
The UN Security Council adopted a resolution proposed by the UK, which consolidates the outcome of the Berlin conference on Libya. This is reported on Thursday, February 13, by the Interfax agency. It is noted that the document was supported by 14 countries. The Russian Federation abstained in the voting.
The draft resolution supports the decisions of the Berlin conference on Libya, held in January 2020, and confirms the need for a ceasefire in the country as soon as possible without any preconditions. The authors of the document insist on full compliance with the UN arms embargo in Libya. It also mentions the possibility of an international operation to monitor compliance with the ceasefire in Libyan territory.
In addition, the draft resolution refers to the promise of participants in the Berlin conference to refrain from interfering in the Libyan conflict.
On January 19, in Berlin, a conference was held on the Libyan issue, at which they approved a comprehensive plan to resolve the conflict.
