Members of the North Atlantic Alliance are currently seeking to increase their presence in Iraq to stabilize the stop in this country, said the US Permanent Representative to NATO Kay Bailey Hutchison.
“As you know, the American President turned to NATO for a more active participation in the affairs of Iraq and the Middle East. NATO responds to this, and we are now working to build up our presence in Iraq together with the international coalition against ISIS (a terrorist jrganization banned in Russia – ed.)”, – she said, speaking at the Heritage Foundation in Washington.
Hutchison noted that another goal of its presence in Iraq, NATO sees the protection of the region, Europe and North America from the activities of Iran, which supports terrorists.
