A group of migrants of about 400 people gathered on the border of Serbia and Hungary and demands to let them go further west, the Tanyug agency reported.
A group of migrants arrived at the Serbian-Hungarian border on Thursday afternoon and set up tents near the checkpoint from Serbia.
“About 400 migrants gathered on Thursday evening at the border crossing the point of Celebia, with them there are about 50 children, a dozen and a half of whom stand in front of the border and shout “Open the gates” and hold the “Want to Germany” posters, the agency reports.
The Minister of Defense of Serbia Alexander Vulin, who oversees the issue of migrants, came to the place. He stated that those gathered were misled by unscrupulous people who convinced them that the border was open. According to him, those gathered will receive proper treatment and help, but the Serbian authorities will not allow “someone to quarrel between two states – Serbia and Hungary”, the agency adds.
At the end of January, about 60 migrants broke through the fence at night near the Korgios 2 checkpoint adjacent to Celebia, Hungarian police on duty fired several warning shots at the air and stopped the migrants. After that, the Hungarian police detained four people.
