The plane was redirected to the nearest safe runway. She was at the Khmeimim airbase, where the Russian Aerospace Forces are stationed.
Konashenkov noted that Israeli strategists planning such operations are increasingly using civil aviation to cover their own combat aircraft or obstruct the operation of air defense systems. He drew attention to the fact that Israel was aware of the air situation in the operation area, as a result, they were aware of the presence of passenger aircraft.
“Unfortunately, the operations of Israeli strategists completely ignore the lives of hundreds of innocent citizens”, – the representative of the Russian defense department said.
