Kremlin appraised Syrian-Turkish exacerbation in Idlib

Russia remains preoccupied with the continued terrorist activity in Syrian Idlib, Russian and Turkish presidents Vladimir Putin and Tayyip Erdogan have not yet discussed the situation in the region, spokesman for the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov told the reporters.

Journalists asked Peskov whether there was a telephone conversation between Putin and Erdogan after an attack by Syrian government forces on Turkish positions in Idlib.

“First. The Russian and Turkish military are in constant contact. Second. There has been no top-level conversation yet, but there is no doubt that if the presidents deem it necessary, it can be agreed on as soon as possible. Third. The Russian Ministry of Defense is already gave the necessary explanations in connection with the situation in Idlib”, – th reporters quoted Peskov as saying.

He added that the Kremlin remains concerned about the continued activity of terrorist groups in the Syrian region.

Monday morning it became known that four Turkish soldiers were killed and nine were injured after clashes with the Syrian government army in Idlib. One of the victims is in serious condition.
