The Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and SOS Mediterranee humanitarian organizations reported the rescue of 59 migrants off the coast of Libya.
“Before dawn, the SOS Mediterranee and MSF teams rescued 59 people, men and women, who were in a small wooden boat in distress. The operation of rescue began immediately after 04:00, about 26 nautical miles from the Libyan coast,” – says the MSF and SOS Mediterranee posts on Twitter.
It is noted that on board the vessel Ocean Viking, which rescues migrants in the Mediterranean Sea, there are 151 “survivors”.
At the end of July, Doctors Without Borders, together with SOS Mediterranee, resumed search and rescue operations to help migrants in the Mediterranean “amid the inaction of the EU countries”. The ship of humanitarian organizations Ocean Viking flies under the flag of Norway.
