UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said the first meeting of the Libyan military committee in a format with five representatives from each side of the conflict will be held on Tuesday, January 28, in Geneva.
“We hope that it (the committee – ed.) will be able to hold the first meeting on Tuesday”, – TASS quoted him as saying.
Guterres called the agreement on the creation of a joint military committee of Libya one of the most important decisions of the conference, which was held in Berlin on January 19.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke about the tasks of the committee. According to him, the parties to the conflict will “under the supervision of the United Nations develop concrete confidence-building measures that will make the ceasefire sustainable”.
