Iran is ready to transfer “black boxes” to Ukraine after a joint international crash investigation team gains access to them on the spot, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadim Pristayko said on Friday.
Earlier, the Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Polina Chizh stated that the Iranian side does not respond to requests from Ukrainian law enforcement agencies for international legal assistance in investigating the crash of Boeing 737-800 Ukraine’s International Airlines, which was shot down near Tehran.
“Last night, I had a conversation with the Iranian Foreign Minister, who assured that the responsibility now lies primarily with the Iranian authorities … the following algorithm of actions is proposed: a joint investigation team will have access to the black boxes on the spot, after which the Iranian separately the side is ready to hand over black boxes to Ukraine”, – said Priestayko, speaking in Parliament.
According to him, this meets international standards, although Kiev requires the return of “black boxes” immediately to ensure the independence of the investigation.
