The assassination of the Iranian general Qassem Soleimani is the culmination of the US unlawful actions, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
“Of course, the culmination of Washington’s illegal actions was the assassination of Kassem Soleimani, the official representative of the Iranian government, who was on an official visit to a neighboring country, in Iraq. And this, of course, goes beyond all international legal and just human limits”, – RIA Novosti quotes Lavrov’s words.
The killing by the US military of the Head of the Al-Quds special forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Qassem Soleimani occurred on January 3 as a result of an uncoordinated US airstrike on territory near Baghdad International Airport.
The United States considers the IRGC a terrorist organization and claims that Soleimani was preparing attacks against American diplomats and the military. The Iraqi Foreign Ministry called the operation against Suleymani a violation of the country’s sovereignty.
