Nine people were detained during a demonstration in Paris, the prefecture of the metropolitan police said.
The first large-scale campaign against pension reform this year takes place on Thursday in the French capital.

“In order to ensure the safety of people and property, law enforcement forces carried out preliminary checks before the start of the demonstration. Nine people were detained at 14.45 (16.45 Moscow time)”, – the prefecture said on Twitter.

On December 5, France launched a nationwide indefinite strike against the pension reform announced by the government, as a result of which some categories of the French, including transport workers, could lose a number of privileges and special retirement regimes. As a result of the strike throughout the country, the operation of public transport — the metro, trains, and trains — was significantly disrupted. During this period, several large-scale protests took place in Paris and other French cities.
