The US did not doubt the need to eliminate Soleimani, said Pompeo

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the country’s top leadership had no doubts about the need to eliminate Iranian General Kassem Suleimani.

The United States struck Suleimani on Thursday in Baghdad. On Saturday, the New York Times, citing Pentagon sources and the US presidential administration, said that President Donald Trump had ordered the operation contrary to intelligence.

“The senior executives who had access to all the intelligence had no skepticism. As I recall, General Millie (head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff – Ed.) said: “We would have committed criminal negligence if we hadn’t dealt this blow”, – said Pompeo in an interview with ABC.

According to him, intelligence data indicated that “Soleimani continued to plan his campaign for terrorism” and that was a greater risk than actions to eliminat
