Vladimir Putin held telephone conversations with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, two leaders discussed the situation in Libya and continued cooperation on Syria.
The Kremlin Press Service noted that the Presidents, in particular, raised “issues related to the ongoing escalation of military confrontation in Libya”.
Putin and Erdogan supported the mediation efforts of the UN and Germany to end the armed conflict and resume a peaceful dialogue.
“The readiness to assist in establishing inter-Libyan contacts was noted”, – the Kremlin’s Press Service said in a statement.
In addition, the heads of state “exchanged views on Syria, including in the context of Russian-Turkish agreements to stabilize the situation in Idlib and in the north-east” of the republic.
The Presidents noted the importance of building up joint efforts to combat terrorist groups. The Erdogan administration, in turn, noted that, in addition to Libya and Syria, the presidents discussed bilateral relations and regional problems.
