Moscow is seriously concerned about Washington’s confrontational line against Tehran, a source in the Russian Foreign Ministry told reporters.
“Washington’s confrontational line against Tehran is also of serious concern. The US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan to ensure the peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program, the US’s unjustified sanctions pressure on Iran and direct saber rattling near its borders, coupled with threatening rhetoric, are fraught with destabilization of the entire Middle East”, – the source said.
Last year, the United States unilaterally withdrew from a nuclear deal with Iran and re-imposed sanctions against Tehran, including secondary ones, that is, against other countries doing business with Iran. At the same time, China, India, Italy, Greece, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Turkey were given exceptions until May 2, 2019, that is, the States undertook not to impose sanctions against them for the purchase of certain volumes of Iranian oil. However, the White House did not extend these exceptions, hoping that thanks to this decision, the export of Iranian oil would be reduced to zero.
