Representatives of the Syrian parties proposed to the Kurdish parties a local government project in the territories in northeastern Syria, the Kurds emphasized that they did not strive for separatism, the party’s secretary general and member of the SAR parliament, Nauaf Mulhim, told pro-government newspaper al-Watan.
According to the deputy, the parties held talks on Saturday in the city of Kamyshli, bordering Turkey.
From the Kurdish side there were also representatives of the PYD party, the Assyrian Union party and others. These negotiations were preceded by several coordination meetings, Mulkhim explained. “The Kurds at those meetings emphasized that they are Syrians, they have the same rights and obligations as others, and that they are not separatists,” the deputy said.
According to him, a delegation from Damascus submitted to the Kurds a draft “local government”, which corresponds to the current constitution of 2012. “We agreed to discuss the positive aspects, whether in the autonomous administration or in the regime of local self-government. Then we will have an agreed document that we will submit to the Syrian government,” said Mulhim.
