Paris police for the 60th time demolished the illegal camp of migrants

Paris police again cleared an illegal refugee camp with more than 500 prisoners.

Residents of the tent city in the northeast of the French capital were now housed in temporary shelters, as the prefecture announced. It was already the 60th eviction from the Paris camp since the start of the refugee crisis in 2015.

A slum-like tent city was created on the edge of the Paris motorway. The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo and relief organizations, however, complain that the camps are being cleaned up too quickly and that after a few weeks residents are landing on the streets again due to lack of permanent housing.

Recall, that in early November, the French government announced the creation of 16,000 new places for refugees throughout the country.
