Washington stands between Damascus and Kurds – Assad tells how the United States undermines peace processes in Syria

There was hardly any progress between the Syrian authorities and the Kurds in resolving the differences, the US administration “took care” of torpedoing it.

This statement was made by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in an interview with the “Russia 24” television channel.

As News Front previously reported, in early October, Turkish troops launched an offensive in the northeast of the SAR in order to defeat Kurdish armed forces. At the same time, the USA, which had previously supported the Kurds, left those to their fate. This forced the Kurds to seek help from official Damascus, which they had opposed for so long to please Washington.

According to Assad, now the United States has again intensified its work with factions and exerted pressure on the militants, hindering their cooperation with the government of the Arab Republic. This is one of the main reasons why the processes of peaceful settlement of the conflict are withheld, the President said.

He emphasized that Damascus was even ready to accept Kurdish gang members from the Syrian Arab army, but they were not ready for that yet.

“The response we received, which we regard as official, was that they were not ready to join the Syrian forces and intend to maintain their weapons”, – Assad said.

As News Front reported, earlier the leader of the Syrian Democratic Forces armed group, Mazlum Abdi, announced the return of Kurdish militants “under the wing” of the United States. According to him, this decision was preceded by negotiations with representatives of the Western coalition led by Washington.
