Leaders of “Norman Four” agreed to have a meeting

Russian President Vladimir Putin, his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will hold a meeting in the “Norman format” on December 9 in Paris. This was reported by the German government.

“The Chancellor will take part in it”, – the agency said.

In addition, the date of negotiations was confirmed by the Champs Elysees and the Ukrainian President’s Office. In Kiev, it was reported that the decision was made after a telephone conversation between Zelensky and Macron.

For the Ukrainian leader, this will be the first negotiations in the “Norman format” and the first personal meeting with Putin.

The Russian side has not yet commented on this information.

The so-called “Norman format” of negotiations on Ukraine has existed since June 2014. Then, during the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy, the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany for the first time discussed the settlement of the conflict in the Donbass. Since then, a number of telephone conversations and summits have taken place, as well as contacts of foreign ministers.
