Protests of the yellow vest movement began on November 17, 2018. Often they were accompanied by clashes with the police and pogroms. As a result, the damage caused to the state budget and business was estimated at 2.5 billion euros.
This is evidenced by the data of the French government.
Over a year, 5,000 entrepreneurs, whose business suffered from the aggression of radicals, appealed to the French authorities for help. Among other things, they demanded that they be granted deferred tax payments, amounting to $ 460 million. At the same time, insurance companies have paid $ 230 million in compensation to 13 thousand enterprises since the beginning of the protests.
Moreover, pogroms and further restoration of a number of enterprises led to partial unemployment of 75 thousand people. Most affected were hotels, restaurants, shops and transportation.
As News Front previously reported, the government’s plans to raise fuel prices for cars were the cause of the protest movement of the “yellow vests”. The first protesters were residents of remote settlements, who most often used transport. This also was the reason why the symbol of protests was a reflective yellow vest for motorists.
