Macron commented on US-China trade talks

The trade agreement between China and the United States, which the parties have been trying to achieve for a long time, should take into account the interests of not only two parties, but also other countries, French President Emmanuel Macron said at the opening of the Second China International Exhibition of Imported Goods (CIIE) on Tuesday.

“In a trade war, there are only losers… we have witnessed what the trade conflict between the two largest economies in the world has led to, what damage it has already caused to the world economy. We hope that eventually an agreement will be reached to resolve (trade) tensions, taking into account the interests of the two sides and their partners, including the European Union”, – Macron said.

He also called on China to accelerate the simplification of market access procedures for foreign companies, to make them more transparent so that companies wishing to work in the Chinese market take this step with confidence. He also noted the need to create conditions for protecting the intellectual property rights of companies, equal market conditions and equal access to subsidies with Chinese companies.

The second Chinese International Exhibition of Imported Goods (CIIE) opened in Shanghai on Tuesday and runs until November 10, Russia is among the 15 countries that became guests of honor for the upcoming exhibition. The Chinese side invited representatives of business circles, various organizations, officials and more than 3 thousand companies from 170 countries and regions of the world to take part in the exhibition and related events. At the same time, 64 countries, including China, will participate in the EXPO with national pavilions.

The exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the People’s Government of Shanghai with the support of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
