Trump and Erdogan hold talks on a ceasefire in Syria

The US President Donald Trump said he had talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during which the topic of Turkey’s suspension of the operation against the Kurds in Syria was raised.

“Just talked with Turkish President Erdogan. He told me that there was a slight sniper and artillery shelling, which was quickly stopped”, – he said.

According to Trump, Erdogan told him that “he really wants the ceasefire or pause (in Syria) to work”.

“The Kurds also want this to happen and a final decision be made”, – he wrote.

Erdogan said earlier that Ankara will continue the military operation in Syria if Washington does not keep its promises to withdraw Kurdish forces outside the “security zone”.
