Tehran collected evidence on the incident with the Iranian tanker in the Red Sea

Tehran has gathered evidence of an incident with an Iranian tanker in the Red Sea, but will continue to investigate until the final determination of who carried out the attack, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said.

According to him, during talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, Tehran expressed his concern about the safety of tankers, including the latest incident with the Iranian tanker Sabiti on Friday near Saudi Arabia.

“We collected evidence and presented it to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, stressing that our investigation will continue until the final result is reached and the main actors who committed the attack are clarified”, – said Rouhani, whose words are quoted on his official website.

The incident with the tanker occurred a few days before the visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to Tehran, who, being in the Iranian capital, said that he would not want a conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran, which are currently undergoing tense relations.

Iran has not yet announced who is behind the attack.

On Friday, it became known that the Iranian oil tanker Sabiti was attacked in the Red Sea off the coast of Saudi Arabia near the port city of Jeddah, it was hit twice, an explosion occurred. The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced an attack on a tanker, as a result of which it was damaged and an oil leak occurred. The ship belongs to a subsidiary of the National Oil Company of Iran – the National Tanker Company of Iran. At the moment, according to Iranian media, the ship is moving towards the Persian Gulf.
