Saudi Arabia has denied involvement in the attack on the Iranian tanker in the Red Sea, the Kingdom’s Foreign Minister, Adel al-Jubeyr, told the reporters.
“Of course not, we don’t behave this way”, – al-Jubair said, answering the question whether the incident with the Iranian tanker off the coast of Saudi Arabia is Riyadh’s response to the drone attack on its oil facilities.
He noted that Saudi Arabia accused Iran of the attack, because it was Iranian drones and Iranian missiles, we know that the attack was carried out from the north, and not from the south.
“We asked the UN to conduct an investigation, several countries joined it to establish where the attack was carried out, and as soon as it is completed, we will publish the results and see what we will do”, – he said.
“But we don’t behave this way. We heard conflicting reports, someone said that there was an oil spill (after the incident in the Red Sea – ed.), Someone said no. The story is incomprehensible. But we are not involved in such things, it’s not at all how we acted or acted in the past. The story is not finished, let’s wait and understand what happened before drawing conclusions”, – al-Jubeyr added.
On Friday, it became known that the Iranian oil tanker Sabiti was attacked in the Red Sea off the coast of Saudi Arabia near the port city of Jeddah, it was hit twice, an explosion occurred. The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced an attack on a tanker, as a result of which it was damaged and an oil leak occurred. The ship belongs to a subsidiary of the National Oil Company of Iran – the National Tanker Company of Iran. Tehran has not yet announced who is behind the attack.
