North Korean leader Kim Jong-un stated that he hopes to discuss the problem of the Korean settlement with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Rossiya-24 broadcast a fragment of the interview that the North Korean leader gave upon arriving to Russia.
“I came to Russia with the warm sentiments of our people. I hope that this visit will be successful and useful. I hope that during negotiations with President Putin I will be able to discuss issues of the settlement on the Korean Peninsula and the development of our bilateral relations in detail,” Kim Jong-un stressed.
Kim Jong-un arrived to Russia at 10:30 local time (3:30 Moscow time). Primorsky Region Governor Oleg Kozhemyako, Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Alexander Kozlov, Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov and Russian Ambassador to North Korea Alexander Matsegora met the North Korean leader at the Khasan railway station. The North Korean leader’s train now arrived to Vladivostok.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will hold negotiations in Vladivostok on April 25, which will focus on the peaceful settlement of the Korean nuclear problem and providing security in Northeast Asia in general. The sides will also discuss bilateral relations, in particular regarding the political, economic and cultural and humanitarian agendas. The negotiations between Putin and Kim Jong-un in Vladivostok will become their first face-to-face meeting.
