Yellow vests march in Paris again

The Yellow Vests returned to Paris on Saturday for the 22nd week in a row

“We need to change the government, change the poor people’s salary, establish more social measures, that’s what would stop us otherwise we will never stop,” said one protester.

The Yellow Vests movement emerged last November, first as a response to fuel tax hikes but it later escalated into general discontent with the system.

The latest round of demonstrations followed a report from the French government into the ‘Great National Debate’, a mixture of online contributions and town hall meetings.

Unveiling the findings, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said that “huge exasperation” over the level of taxation was a primary concern.
