French ambassador to DPR Hubert Fayard accused of pimping

Hubert Fayard has been arrested on April 2. He has been charged with procurement, and is currently being held in the Aix-Lyunes prison (Bouches-du-Rhône). A year and a half ago, Mr Fayard opened the “official representation” of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” in Marseille – in fact, in a simple legal association of 1901, which occupied a small office, Avenue du Prado.

This former leader of the National Front became sympathetic to the cause of the pro-Russian Donbass rebels after a trip to this region in eastern Ukraine. The mission of Hubert Fayard was to “re-inform” the situation in this region and to protect the interests of his Donetsk friends in France.

Now Mr Fayard must face another kind of storm. According to the information of the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, confirmed by Le Monde, the extreme right-wing leader has been charged with procurement, and is currently being held in prison in Aix-Lyunes (Bouches-du-Rhône). According to the charges in Aix-en-Provence, this man was arrested on April 2, charged on April 4, and placed in custody on the same day. Another judicial source mentions, without further details, “girls from eastern countries who will work for him”.

RIA Novosti, for its part, quotes one of his relatives, who gives another explanation: “Hubert [Fayard] was in a difficult financial situation. (…) He met a woman, a Ukrainian. I can’t say what their relationship was, but she offered to lend him some money.”
