The Prague Division for Combating Organized Crime has issued a warning that men from Kosovo and Turkey are entering into fictitious marriages with Czech citizens. For a sum of one thousand to ten thousand euros, they thus receive a temporary residence permit or save themselves from deportation in European countries, most often in Germany.
As the young woman who wished to remain anonymous told the Czech edition of Mladá fronta Dnes, an agent engaged in searching women for fictitious marriages with migrants came to her.
“I received a five-digit amount in euros,” the interlocutor confirmed.
“The new trend is marriage in third countries of the EU,” say the police. “Such crimes are difficult to identify, because no one takes women abroad by force. Most often they continue to live where they lived before marriage, and they work as prostitutes in erotic clubs” .
The police intends to strengthen the inspection in order to identify fake marriages of Czech citizens with foreigners.
