Foreign Ministers of the G7 arrived for the second and last day of their meeting in Dinard, France, on Saturday.
Today the main topics of discussion are expected to include Libya, Venezuela and cyber security.
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas confirmed to the media upon his arrival that Libya would be discussed and said that the “UN Security Council had given a clear signal that the military escalation should end, also clearly directed to General Haftar and I’m sure we will also confirm that here today.”
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo remained absent; in his place Washington has sent Deputy Secretary of State John J. Sullivan.
This meeting will lay the groundwork for the general G7 meeting which this year will take place in the French city of Biarritz in August. French President Emmanuel Macron indicated that the focus of the G7 meeting will be on inequality.
