Yellow Vests Call for New Protests in Paris

The 30 March protests in the French capital will mark the 20th week of demonstrations against French President Emmanuel Macron’s economic policies as the second phase of the “Grand National Debate” is expected to continue in the next few days.

Last weekend, French police banned protests on the Champs-Elysees and in its vicinity. Similar precautionary measures were taken by police in the French cities of Nice, Marseille and Metz.

Moreover, ahead of the 20th Yellow Vests protests, French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that Operation Sentinelle troops have been mobilised to help maintain security in Paris and across the country. According to the French government, troops have only been deployed to guard symbolic sites.
