The Israeli military said it had launched airstrikes in the Gaza Strip in response to a rocket attack on Tel Aviv late on Thursday.
The air attacks took place in the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis, roughly 25km (15 miles) south of Gaza City.
Footage shows explosions lighting up the night sky, while booming noises can also be heard in the distance.
In a statement early on Friday, the Israeli military said it was targeting “terror sites” but gave no further details.
This was a reprisal after two rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip towards Tel Aviv, the first attack on the city since the 2014 war.
Both Hamas and Islamic Jihad have denied responsibility for the rocket attack.
