Russian Ambassador In UN Advocates For Peace In Venezuela

Russia”s permanent representative to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, assured that with respect to the situation in Venezuela, the strategy today is to defend peace in that country and throughout Latin America.

We hope we do not have to discuss military events in Latin America, the ambassador told the press accredited at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

He also indicated that they are very aware of the situation on the Colombian-Venezuelan border, where the US government sent a supposedly humanitarian cargo that they intend to enter this Saturday under pressure, despite not having the support of the UN or the Cruz. International Red

If something happens in that scenario, the Security Council must react immediately and we will make sure that it is so, the Russian diplomat stressed. The group formed recently to defend the principles of the UN and peace has a very united position in this respect and is opposed to any military development that may occur, Nebenzia said.

The day before, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza met at the UN headquarters with some 60 delegations from the five continents who came together to express their support for the Bolivarian nation.

The Group for the Defense of Peace and the Principles of the UN Charter is now working on a plan of action to reject the aggression against Venezuela and against any sovereign people, he said. Arreaza also reported on his meeting with the head of the United Nations, who made it clear that he opposes any threat of the use of force.

The multilateral agency will continue to act in accordance with the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence, and working with Venezuelan institutions to help people in need, Guterres said in a statement. For his part, the Venezuelan chancellor questioned the true interests of Washington: how to allow the entry of ‘humanitarian aid’ without it having complied with the basic principles for that purpose, he observed.

The United Nations was not summoned to this supposedly humanitarian operation, which is also being carried out outside the framework of international law, denounced. What is happening now on the Colombian-Venezuelan border is a media and propaganda show, he emphasized, and the media should not lend themselves to justify violence.

We have seen, in nations like Syria, the terrible consequences of the supposed ‘humanitarian interventions’ and we must avoid repetitions, said Arreaza.

According to the spokeswoman of the Russian chancellery, Maria Zajarova yesterday, the transfer of special forces and military technique near the Venezuelan territory has been recorded as preparations for a provocation.

In addition, he warned of plans by the United States and NATO to deliver arms and ammunition to the Venezuelan opposition. Zajarova affirmed that a large-scale provocation is expected on Saturday because, with the direction and promotion of Washington, a so-called humanitarian aid convoy will attempt to cross the border of Colombia with Venezuela and thus fabricate a pretext for intervention.
