At least 80 graves were desecrated at a Jewish cemetery in the French village of Quatzenheim in Alsace, Tuesday.
The damage was discovered earlier in the day, with swastikas and anti-Semitic slogans daubed on the graves.
The incident came ahead of planned nationwide marches against a surge in anti-Semitic attacks.
The Jewish community in France is estimated at around 550,000 people, which is the largest one in Europe. In 2018, France has witnessed a 74-percent increase in the number of anti-Semitic attacks from 2017, according to figures published last week.
