Night of ‘yellow vests’ and long daggers: What the next wave of protests will bring to France

On the eve France, “noted” the tenth anniversary wave of demonstrations, but the “yellow vests” are clearly not going to stop and prepared for a new unexpected surprise the the country.

One of the representatives of the protest movement, Eric Drouet, voiced the idea of holding the eleventh act under cover of night, reports “Le Figaro”.

In his video message, Drouet has already dubbed the coming wave of protests, which will unfold on Saturday, January 26, a “yellow night”. At the same time, according to French media, in a letter to the country’s president, Emmanuel Macron, a representative of the “yellow vests” promised France “several very difficult weeks.” He linked this to the “intensification of the protest movement.” Now, protesters can break the tradition in which protests were held only on Saturdays, and “yellow vests” can appear on the streets at any time.

It is worth noting that such an alignment can spoil the plans of the authorities. Law-enforcement agencies were thoroughly preparing for Saturday demonstrations – thousands of security officials and even armored vehicles were taking to the streets. However, such events require time.

Moreover, Drouet assured that the “yellow night” will be much more brutal than the daytime demonstrations. “People are eager to strike a serious blow in order to be heard,” he says, warning that “weak people” should not participate in the nightly action.

Recall that the protest movement “yellow vests” began on November 17, and since then they have been held every Saturday, accompanied by riots, clashes with the police and vandalism.
