Turkey warns France not to protect Kurdish militia

Turkey’s foreign minister said that France will not gain in any way by protecting a Kurdish militia in Syria.

“If France is staying to contribute to Syria’s future, great, but if they are doing this to protect the (militia), this will bring no benefit to anyone” – Cavusoglu said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also said that Turkey will intervene in the coming months against IS and the YPG.

The decision of Washington to withdraw troops from Syria turned out to be beneficial for Turkey, but it didn’t please France and its allies. Critics from Europe say that thousands of IS members are still in Syria and could pose a threat with some analysts concerned the withdrawal could lead to a resurgence of IS.
