The “Paris Carnage” that unfolded on the streets of the French capital last Saturday costed the city dearly. Thousands of police officers, whom the authorities of the country sent to pacify particularly violent protesters, did not save the situation. It is reported by BFM TV, with reference to the municipal authorities of Paris.
Saturday riots have become the third in the wave of protests. The first one swept across the country on November 17 with the participation of almost three hundred thousand people. The second event, which took place on November 24, was a smaller scale, but much more serious in terms of destruction. Aggressive-minded “yellow vests” more than compensated for the lack of extras.
Having learned from bitter experience, the authorities in Paris seriously approached the upcoming third wave of protests. On Saturday, there were five thousand law enforcement officers on the streets of the capital. The owners of various establishments, who, perhaps, for the first time regretted that they were located in the very center of the city, prepared for the unrest. They had to literally pick up the windows. However, all this did not help.
According to estimates of the Paris City Hall, the damage from the protests that took place on December 1 was about four million euros.
Recall that the official reason for the demonstrations is the decision of the authorities of the country to raise the price of fuel from the beginning of next year. At the same time, the representative of the “yellow vests” earlier said that the protesters demanded a change of government.
